  Avoid Family Lawyer Eric Shapiro To call this attorney a shyster would be an insult to shyster everywhere. Eric Shapiro has no office rather he works out of a shared co-working space. He has not associates. He was cited by the Georgia Bar and promised to hire employees to help manage his disorganization. I hired him as a cheaper alternative to the "Atlanta family law mafia" but in the end I got exactly what I paid for. When we got to the court, the judge called him within the first five minutes of opposing counsel's opening arguments because he was texting. He lied to the judge that he was "taking notes." He also showed up to court without copies of trial exhibits. Read the reviews ... you can tell the ones he wrote himself.

  Eric got me full custody of my kids, spousal support that gave me a chance to get on my feet, and held my ex's attorney accountable for keeping the division of our stuff fair. He was honest and professional. He worked with me to make the payments doable because he understands that attorney's fees are a "necessarily evil." He helped me keep my focus on my kids and was compassionate when I needed compassion and firm when I needed someone to keep me focused on the important stuff. I had his cell phone and he returned calls at all times of day and night, weekends, etc.... I have sent a couple friends to him since and they both had similar experiences. Eric is a wonderful attorney.

  Divorce is a difficult situation to go through and you need an attorney who is willing to guide, protect and represent you. Unfortunately, Eric Shapiro is not that attorney. I received no guidance at all. I was the major breadwinner and caretaker of an autistic son. I needed Mr. Shapiro to make sure that I made the best decisions for myself and my son that were financially sound and, to also help with me obtaining guardianship for my son. Here are the problems I encountered. Mr. Shapiro's office staff turned over several times in the 6 - 7months I dealt with him. I had to make several calls to contact anyone and sometimes would not receive a call back for days. Mr. Shapiro waited til the last minute to obtain all the documents from family members for guardianship, so then had to rush to get everything submitted to the court and then wanted to charge me the extra fees because his delay. During the guardianship, the questions he asked by ex were not relevant. I could have done this myself and saved myself a lot of money. When going through a divorce, you are not thinking clearly and he should have instructed me to speak to my accountant and financial advisor before mediation and to take time to calming write down everything I would need. Instead, during mediation, he made no suggestions and even wrote up a 5 year alimony payment for my ex! I felt he rushed my case and was just thinking of moving on to the next case and payments. I would not recommend this attorney.

  They're often two responsible parties in a custody case, the Plaintiff and the Defendant. Your attorney should be a compliment to your case, not your whole case; Eric Shapiro is not only a compliment, his professionalism and knowledge of Supreme Court law supersedes all the local talent. Five 5 experience

  Do not trust this guy at all. He took advantage of me when I was going through a difficult time in my life and did not understand how the law works. He's resorted to writing his own five star reviews. He will ask you for your income and then base his retainer on what you say or how much he can get out of you. He will then start over charging you until your retainer is depleted. He did not help me in my court issue at all and made it worse (please contact me if you want to know more details). As others have said, check out the reviews with the bar and go somewhere else. There are plenty of better lawyers in Atlanta/Dunwoody who will not take advantage of you.
