  Over a three year period Mr. Pate has successfully defended me of criminal charges related to drug trafficking which could have resulted in a long prison term and within the past month prevailed in a civil trial that could have resulted in the forfeiture of my airplane. Mr. Pate proved to the court that I was not guilty of the trafficking/conspiracy charges two years ago and earlier this month he won the civil trial. My plane will be returned after three years in forfeiture. During all of this time Mr. Pate was always accessible, always returned phone calls promptly and always kept us informed of the status of the case. We are not local to the Atlanta area and were unfamiliar with the legal community. We feel extremely fortunate to have worked so quickly and chosen so wisely in obtaining representation. We interviewed several attorneys who were recommended but knew very early in the process that Mr. Pate would have my best interests and believe in my innocence. His intelligence was reassuring and his compassion comforting to our entire family.   After being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security for downloading illegal images of children on a family computer, a member of the family was charged with possession and receiving illegal images of children. Eventually we found out that no images or video of any kind were found on any computer, it seemed they were charged in an over abundance of caution because they were in the childcare industry. Our first lawyer encouraged them to take a plea deal of 3 years in federal prison and a lifetime on the national sex offender registry, expecting it to be the easiest way out with minimal damages. However we were all uncomfortable with this idea especially when no evidence was found and felt they had done nothing wrong. Mr. Pate took our case and immediately proved he had far more experience in the federal court system and trial than our first lawyer. Mr. Pate gave us the confidence to take this to trial and fight. After 20 months of being on house arrest, a lost career and their reputation in the community destroyed, the case was dismissed. Working with Mr. Pate and his associate was the best decision we made involving this situation. He is confident in his ability and took a respectful and non-judgmental approach to our case. It wasn't always easy to hear what he had to say, but he told the blunt truth that we needed to hear. Preparing for trial was immensely stressful for our family, but we are grateful to have had Mr. Pate by our side. A week before trial, as we are in Mr. Pate's office and he is preparing us for trial, the prosecutor called his office and informed him the case had been dismissed. We are confident we would have won the case at trial, but we are relieved we didn't have to go through what would have been a nasty and stressful court battle. Mr. Pate knew exactly what to do and the approach to take for our defense. There was very little evidence in the case and the prosecutor knew this. The DA made the right decision to dismiss the case because he wouldn't have had a chance against Mr. Pate and his associate. The biggest lesson our family and friends have learned from this horrible situation is, Don't EVER talk to law enforcement without a lawyer present. This seems like common sense now, but at the time we felt there was nothing to hide. If you are ever in need of an attorney to represent you, Start with Mr. Pate. You will not find anyone better.   After being charged with 7 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a minor I found myself in need a very skilled and respected Law Firm. After speaking with several firms I chose the Pate Law Firm. Within 24 hours Mr. Pate traveled across the state to make sure he appeared at my bond hearing, this effort would secure a very difficult bond and afford me the ability to remain out of jail while he defended my case. Throughout the entire case Mr. Pate was always very up front with me. I never had to wonder where I stood or what I should expect.
